Pappy

Ill use the same gloss white I use on everyone else's parts, and pray your hard water doesnt tear it up:p

Your frame and sub will head over to stripping either on friday or monday, then I will knock it all out early next week as long as they get it back early etc. I have cletusEX's to do white also so I will make a batch of it

Dave400ex

White for my frame, Kenny. We'll save pink for when I tear Dan's bike down over the winter!:p I'll stop posting in this thread so we both don't end up with something crazy!:D

Pappy
10-26-2008, 05:50 PM
naaa, he was on vacation last week. He does welding as well and it was so dead he just closed up and rolled out:p Lucky sob:grr:

Benefit to me...I got in 3 days of hunting last week:D

Howd you end up in points fo rthe year? Looks like you made a good comeback at Ironam?

Dave400ex
10-26-2008, 05:59 PM
So you didn't even get to take the stuff up there last week then huh? lol. Hopefully within the next few weeks I get a bunch more stuff sent to you.

I ended up tied for the lead, but he will get it because he had more wins then me. I had a good race at Ironman though, came from outside the top 10 twice up to 4th twice and ended up there.

Pappy
10-26-2008, 07:16 PM
No its just your subframe thats waiting to be blasted, I prepped your main frame here. Let me know what else your sending, Id like to order enough powder in your colors to have them all done with that batch of powder.

Well, it was a godo comeback for you! There is always next year!!!!

Dave400ex
10-26-2008, 08:52 PM
I can see why you blast after the gussets are welded in, to make sure the oily stuff is off of the gussets. I've seen frames where the powder was coming off just the gussets, must have blasted then welded and not hit the gussets again.

Your red came friday evening, so i will knock the frame out and get it shipped this week. I will save shipping the sub with some of the other stuff your shipping out.

Dave400ex
11-22-2008, 08:20 PM
Pap you think the frame will ship Monday so I have something to stare at over Thanksgiving? :huh

Also I will ship the above list to you Monday so it should arrive Wednesday.

Pappy
11-22-2008, 09:01 PM
Yep, she will be all shiney new for ya! No turkey gravy on the new pc

:blah:

Dave400ex
11-22-2008, 09:55 PM
Ah shiney Red PC with Clear... so nice. lol. If you get a chance snap some pictures I'll use them for the build thread.

Also let me know on the Gloss black brand/code #.

As for the other parts, you'll like me much more this year. Hardly sending any little parts/pieces. The moly should be much easier on ya. :D

Pappy
11-22-2008, 11:00 PM
I used a 80% gloss black with clear coat. Any gloss black with a clear will match nicely.

Dave400ex
11-23-2008, 02:12 PM
Hey Pap I took the rear caliper apart and where the rod on the back of the piston goes through the caliper for the parking brake, there is that real small black o-ring, but I noticed there is a white hard plastic thing in there as well. Do you take that out? I'll put a note in there for you to check it out.

Pappy
11-23-2008, 03:29 PM
Nope it will be fine where its at.

the only time we have to worry with that PITA is when the caliper has previously been pc'd and it has to go to burn off.

Dave400ex
12-11-2008, 05:40 PM
Well Pap I'm sitting pretty good if I can get stuff back next week.

Also my engine will be done as soon as the molycoat work is done as well so I'm sitting ok with that too.

Pappy
12-12-2008, 05:27 PM
Moly work is almost completed...looks good so far

Dave400ex
12-12-2008, 05:46 PM
Sweet. What did you think of the frame?

Pappy
12-12-2008, 05:59 PM
A few minutes and some touch up paint would have fixed it. It wasnt even close to what I expected. I am still dickin with Fed Ex over the damage claim.

Dave400ex
12-12-2008, 06:05 PM
Touch up paint? Come on now Pap you know better then that, not on MY quad. :D I don't expect Fed EX to do anything.

LOL how did you like our crate? Pretty nice :eek2:

Pappy
12-12-2008, 06:33 PM
LOL, id love to use that type of crate every frame, but it would add $75 :huh

Dave400ex
12-12-2008, 08:29 PM
It was $75 total to ship that to you. Like I said anything over the $38 I'll cover. That way I know it will show up and be fine. You would seriousaly have to do something amazing to mess it up in that wood box. lol

Pappy
12-12-2008, 08:35 PM
I wouldnt put anything past those *******s!

Dave400ex
12-12-2008, 10:00 PM
Your right. I figure it would be a good idea to saran wrap it for the way back in the crate so it doesn't rub on the styrofoam. Other then that I had it packed tight in there so it couldn't move. I would think we should be fine on the way back, they really would have to destroy the crate to mess up the frame and that thing is sturdy. lol. We did have full insurance on it going to you. That's why I said next week would be good to get stuff back, having stuff shipped the week of Christmas or New Years could be asking for trouble. :cuss:

Dave400ex
12-16-2008, 09:14 PM
Any chance of stuff shipping tomorrow Pap?

Pappy
12-16-2008, 09:23 PM
I picked the frame up today, hopefully will shoot all the red tomorrow evening. I will let you know when its all done.

Pappy
12-18-2008, 04:30 PM
I just hung the frame up and everything else that gets red is ready to go. Wasnt any sense in doing 2 batches.

All the black stuff is done

They take about 7 to 10 days depending, some stuff i get next day, it just depends on the work flow. I cant ask them to do 1 frame, unless you want the gas bill:eek2:

I had planned on trying to send it all out on monday, I dont see how they could damage anything in this crate:huh

Dave400ex
12-18-2008, 04:46 PM
You should be right. What I was going to have you do is saran wrap the frame so if it moves around in there it can't rub the powder off. I guess you could wrap the subframe up, put it inside of the frame that is wrapped as well. I don't know, just worried about getting it in one piece.

Also Fed EX ground is not delivering Wed the 24th. So it has to be sent back Fed EX express or UPS to get here the 24th.

Pappy
12-18-2008, 06:34 PM
Naaa, the 450R sub frames are really tight inside the frames. Not so bad sending them here that way but after they are coated I would be leary...especially this week because you know any box being shipped will take a pounding.

I will shrink wrap the frame before re-crating

Not sure when it will get there if it ships Monday. Depending on how things go I may try and UPS it on saturday but no promises, I use Fed Ex and they pick up but we will see how it all works out(they are calling for snow sunday and monday here is why I may try and get it out before then)

I will get you a total as well.

Dave400ex
12-18-2008, 09:37 PM
Sounds good! Hopefully Saturday works out, that would be great. It might arrive here Tuesday then which would be better then them wanting to get home on Wednesday. Either way UPS would be here no later then Wednesday. Just the Fed EX ground wouldn't be. Not sure why Fed EX express delivers the 24th and not ground. Who knows, UPS might be better. Anywho hopefully Saturday works out.

Also are you sending the other parts in a box as well or waiting on them?

Pappy
12-18-2008, 09:40 PM
No everything will ship together(same time) I believe....

I just turned off the oven, all red parts are now red:p

Dave400ex
12-18-2008, 09:42 PM
Awesome. The frame looked great the first time so I know the Red will turn out well.

Dave400ex
12-22-2008, 04:54 PM
Well was everything able to ship today?

Pappy
12-22-2008, 05:01 PM
Ofcourse:p

Dave400ex
12-22-2008, 05:05 PM
Tracking numbers please! :D

You know I'm going to be stressing until I get everything opened up and it's in one piece, not all dinged up.

Also what was shipping on the crate, I'll get you a check sent.

Pappy
12-22-2008, 05:17 PM
#693967610001770
#693967610001787

I will pm you the shipping as soon as they finalize it here, I know what the are stating in the shipping info however I know it will be more then that as soon as its scanend at the first facility. They will oversize it at that point again and back charge me, then I will know the final total etc.

Dave400ex
12-24-2008, 02:23 PM
I got everything Pap! Everything is ok and looks great! No issues thank goodness. Only thing I need to do is spray the frame out to get all that darn sand out of there.

Thanks a bunch, have a great Christmas!

Pappy
12-28-2008, 10:41 PM
Thanks Dave, hope you guys had a great holiday as well!

The additional shipping came to $28.11 that you can add to your total. Just fire off a check when ya can:p

Dave400ex
12-29-2008, 09:30 PM
Sure thing. I'll get a check or MO sent this week. Man are these colors shinny! :D

Pappy
12-29-2008, 09:41 PM

Are you going to have another build thread?

Dave400ex
01-07-2009, 03:40 PM

01-07-2009, 03:59 PM
I spy a podium shock...lol what linkage are you running with the stock swingarm?

Dave400ex
01-07-2009, 04:46 PM
Trust me Pap I am dieing to get going on it, but am missing the biggest pieces. If I get the engine Friday I can get a lot done. I'm still waiting on all the chassis stuff and front shocks. I've been calling everyone like crazy the 3 days this week!

I'm running the Teixeira Tech linkage, XC arms, Stem, etc.

Dave400ex
01-07-2009, 06:02 PM
I like how these upper LSR subframe gussets worked out. I went and got longer bolts so I can put a washer and locknut on the inside to make sure it doesn't come loose.

300ex_#387
01-07-2009, 07:23 PM
Yeah pappy put an LSR gusset kit on my frame to and I liked the sub frame gussets.
