header pipe red hot

I have an 05 and last night while it was at idle i noticed the header pipe turn bright red meaning the engine is running real hot and lean. The quad is a low hour machine and is completly stock. Is this normal my 04 never had this problem nor did my 400ex. Any help would be appricated thanks.

mine did that too when it was stock

my stock 07 does the same thing. I only have the spark arrestor removed, not sure if that make a difference, shouldn`t.

my 250f Yamaha did the same also, never had a problem with either bike.

The walls of the stock header are very thin. While a lean condition can cause the entire length of the pipe to turn red, glowing just to the first bend of pipe is completely normal. It does it all the time, you're just able to see it at night.
