got a ? on k&n air filter for the 300ex

ok on the stock air filter on the 300ex on the inside of it there is a like metal thing that is there it is like mesh well do i put that in the k&n or not? it is #4 bellow and what the heck does it do anyways?

u can, its a fire guard incase it backfires into the carb like if the intake valves open to early , its ur choice, the chances are that it wont happen but if it does ya got a fire on ur hands, i dont run it and i donno anyone else that runs one with a k&n

That is another screen for crap that doesn't get caught in the foam part. When i put my K&N on i left it out. I just put an outerwear on the k&n for smaller particles like sand or something.

I don't think it reduces too much air flow. Try it with it and then try it without it. See what works for you.

i think i will just do it with out it because if i try it with and then with out i might have to re jet and i am to lazy to jet it twice
