Big bore

I got a 2000 honda 400ex and i was thinking about boring it out... i was thinking 440 but a buddy told me a 426 bore would be alot faster and you will have less problems with it... so i was just woundering what you guys think about the 440 or 426 bore.. and im also open to any ideas to...thanks!

Well it kind of depends on how much you want to spend. I only have a 416 vso i dont have any personal experience with those two set ups, but the 440 should have a little more over all power but they say the 426 will rev slightly faster because it is a smaller piston and therefor lighter. The 440 will cost a fair bit more because you will have to have the cylnder re-sleeved and probably want to go with hd head stpuds because there are som problems with blown head gaskets, and i belive a 440kit is actually only like 436cc not much more than a 426. Personally i would go 426 for the cost but if your looking for the most power and arent worried about cost go for the 440.
