I know it's not a honda but I had my 4 year old on a Suzuki LT 50 and it was a pretty reliable little quad. It had a walk behind kill switch so you could kill the motor with a tug of the cord. It lasted until he outgrew it and last I knew it was going strong in the hands of the new owner.

dont get her a 450, she will probably race it to hard and make it blow, 400ex would be a good machine, reliable and she'll be fairly competive. jk, a honda 90 would be a real good one, they arent cheaply made and there reliable

A Honda 90 while a great little quad will be WAY too big for a 5 year old.

Cobra 70 or 50 with fullbore pink plastic. Just make sure she understands the corelation between twisting the grip and the machine going faster...

It depends on what you want to do with it. Trail ride or race.

If its trail riding I would suggest the Predator 50/90 depends on skill level.

If its for racing go with a DRR or Apex. They come in 50/70/90 engines and are race ready.

I don`t know if a 5 year old is ready for a 90?

I am looking to buy a 50 this winter for my daughter as well, she will be 4 in April.

I am looking at the Suzuki and the etons.

I also saw some really cool pink and black ones but can`t remember the manufacturer......seen them at the tt races and they looked good though

my little brother is almost 3 and he rides a Suzuki 50 around the back yard. Its governed way way way down and my dad walks/runs behind him with the killswitch cord. its a good little bike. no problems with it. id stay away from a 90 for a first bike for a 5 year old. the Zuki 50 is plenty big and it hauls my butt around pretty fast (im 6'3" and weigh 190). its probably as fast as my XR50 top speed but not quite as quick. its smaller and easier to handle than a 90 too.

We bought our 5yo a knock-off Chinese quad new for $450 to learn on. In about a months time, he was ready to move up. We got him a new '07 90EX. He got really good on it and in no way was it too big for him. Then he wanted to start racing.....we got him an '08 DRR 50cc.
We still have the 90. It's eventually going to be for our 3yo. Right now, it's mainly used as a pit/play bike for the family.

Here's a vid of him a few months ago on the 90

My son started out on a 2005 LT80 when he was 5 rode it for a year and then started racing it for the past 2 years, Now he is 8 and is on a Apex MXR100, depending on her size a 50 she might grow out of quick but you cant go wrong with LT80 they are bulletproof and tons of parts available for them.

i started on a lt50 when i was 5, kept it till i was 7, got a lt 80, then moved to a recon at 9-10. and the suzukis were good bike but are learning bike, and are outgrown easily. i vote either a 50 or 80, depending on her size

A 90 is a little big, but it has a screw adjust for the throttle. That means you can make her go slow as s**t if you want. And besides there is plenty to grow into so you can keep it longer.

My son is now 8 and I got him a TRX90 when he was 6. When he outgrows it, it's going to my daughter.

Basicly your choices are endless pending money and how far you want to go (backyard or to next national). My personal experience i got a suzuki 50 at 5 , then a KX 60 dirt bike at 6 then up from there as the year when on . Nephew was riding a 50 red cat at 2 1/2 was a good quad it sit in my garage now 4 years later with minor problem chain, battery, bushings i still ride it today ! he when from a 50 to a 90 quad and races a ktm 50 in XC for the last two year. Not old enough to race quads yet.
