Can anyone tell me how much a 416 kit costs for my 400ex. I am looking for full cost,.. do i need hot-cams? HD studs?

Here is a pretty cheap kit on e-bay. It gives you the piston and gaskets. Its $164 plus you will need it bored which is like $50 and then you will need some new oil too.

Ebay Item #: 300263757453

No you dont have to have the hotcams or hd studs but I would get the hotcams stage 2 cam because these two piston/cam combos work really well together.

Then youll have to get a jet kit or 450r carb, a good exhaust system, and a few others to help compensate for the boring and bigger piston. I built a 440 with everything, and i got over 4 grand in mine.:D
Just look around, but ebay is a good place and price to get it tho...

I was able to get mine done by a local shop for 120, and that with the new sleeve being put in and getting the sleeve bored the whole way up to fit the 440 piston.

but with a 416 you dont have to get it re sleeved unless you want to move up to a high bore correct so it should be even cheaper?

btw are there any guides that show how to install the piston ect after being bored?

Yes i am aware of that, it would have been cheaper if i didnt get the new sleeve. You pretty much will have to just open up the yellow pages in your phone book and call around and tell them what you need done, and they will be able to tell you how much it will be.

If you know how to put it back together at stock size its the exact same. Make sure after the bore and hone and such that you clean it out with warm water and soapy water to get all of the little filings out.

You will need the piston and rings first before you can send them the cylinder to be bored. Without the piston and rings they cant get the tolerances correct.

Like i said before the sleeve does not need to be swapped out, on a stock one you can go up to a 416. If you do plan on going up to 12:1 or higher though you will need the heavy duty rod. Its fine man you came here to learn, i will actually be picking up my 440 cylinder 2mro from the machine shop.
