Guys, I am looking at possilby selling my LTR and racing a 700XX in the local MN harescrambles and trail ride with my wife. My LTR is setup more for racing then casual trail riding with my wife. I also miss reverse and would love to have IRS. I am hoping to do just minor mods for the 2009 season. Hoping to do tire/wheel and shocks for the 2010 season.

I am hoping that the 450R front shocks will fit so I can at least have adjustable comp/rebound.

Anybody tried a set yet?

Luecker........I think your out of luck. The rears definately wont fit as the lower link is a fork not an eye; also the rear shocks are longer than the stock front 450R shock. I would get the rears re-valved as they are a quality shock; they just dont have rebound adjustment.

In the front I'm sure the 450R shocks would work but I think they will be a little shorter than the stock 700XX shocks.......obviously that presents a problem. Stock LTR shocks are longer than 450R's and stock DS450 shocks are even longer again.......a bit of research and I'm sure you could find a cheap replacement for the fronts.

I have asked for 700XX shock measurements eye to eye but got no response.

I wasn't too worried about the rear end. I just wanted some adjutability on the front end. I have Fox Float Evol's on the front of my LTR and love them. I am thinking about going with HLS for all four when I have the money. They are cheaper than fox and from what I have seen and heard perform very well.

Wish I knew if my LTR's Fox Evols would fit on the 700XX.

I tried calling Fox and I got the "We don't have shocks for the Honda 700".

LTR will officially be for sale soon. Found a place that is running a sale till the end of the month on the 700XX.

I really like the 2009 Dark Grey/Black, but I will take a 2008 for a lot cheaper.

Im pretty positive fox makes the floats for the 700xx in the front.

Fox Floats are supposed to infeintely adjustable so as long as you get the right length I don't see why you couldn't get them.
It's not like AXIS or Elka where you have to get the right springs and valving.

The only thing you need to work out is if you want to run stock length a-arms or long travels like the ones in the pic with the Roll Design set-up.

I posted the measurement a long time ago. I believe it was 16.5 in.

Just gone and done some measureing........I've got a few bits and pieces in my shed.

450R fronts, fully adjustable.............16.5"
Elkas for stock 450R a-arms..............17"
LTR450 fronts fully adjustable...........17"
DS450 fronts fully adjustable............18"
Elka Elite for LT front end on 450R....19.5"

So it looks like either stock 450R or LTR450 fronts would be a good cheap mod for the front of a 700XX. Plenty of companies do spring and valve kits for these shocks.

I know it is an easy mod to get an extra 1.5" travel from stock 450R shocks.

just bolting them up you get +1.5" of travel?

I dont know if the 450R shocks will give you extra travel over stock 700XX shocks; they will just give you heaps of adjustment over stock.

You can mod the 450R shocks and they will give you an extra 1.5in travel on a 450R. I would expect the same mod on a 700XX would give you the same result. You will have to send them to a suspension specialist though.

You can also get hi/low compression valves for the 450R shocks and they will also fit in to the stock 700XX rears.

Hi, I'm sending in this message for a friend who just bought a 700xx. So from what I understand the fronts off a 450R will fit the 700xx. Also, it seems that 2 rear shocks from a 450r will fit the 700xx but as the bike lowers due to the shorter 450R shocks (what we desire) the rear wheels turn inwards from the top. Any help? Also, what wheels fit the 700xx, do 10" clear the rear hubs?

Thanks

The 450R shocks do not fit on the rear at all........

So is there any options for lowering the bike?

Yes, Fox makes Shocks as well as Elka.

Houser makes a-arms, but not rear a-arms at this time.
