aftermarket skid/ no chain guide??

I just put a beefy aftermarket rear skid plate on my 400ex. it sits a good inch and a half below the chain and sprocket, so it doesnt act as a chain guide like the stock plate does. Should I be worried about the chain derailing? i will run it with the proper tension, not too loose, and im sure that wil help....but im still worried that the chain could pop off

You should be fine as long as you keep it adjusted properly.
