I have a 2002 400ex and have a HMF slip on and am going to be getting a Powerbomb header soon and was just wondering if there are gaskets that go where the pipe goes into the cylinder head? I have taken off my stock to sand it and repaint and it didn't seem like there were any there or if they were i couldn't see them or feel them.. But i haven't had any problems with leaks or anything and I did that back in May/June.

both my brother and I have taken our headers off a few times and never replaced the crush gaskets, never had a problem with exhaust leaks either

The collars on the header seal pretty well. I think the copper crush gaskets just mainly prevent the header pipe from wearing into the head sense copper is softer than cast aluminum it fills in any little crevice that might happen to be open when putting back the header pipe back on.

Anyways thats my 0.02

You just need new ones every exhaust change for anything with crush copper gaskets. I've say countless people try to use the same ones, their exhaust will pop const all the time. Just change them out their like 3 bucks for 2.

yeah seriously......Why do a half assed job? They crush for a reason, and they aren't made of memory foam, so no, they don't just swell right back up and seal just as well as they did the first time the pipe was tightened down.
