I am new to mini quads the wife and I are hanging up the gear and have been researching minis for awhile now. My question is this. If I buy my son a cobra 50 to race at a local level how fast is it compared to modded drr's. Everybody around here has drr's but they all are decked out in full aftermarket suspension, and motor mods. Adding it all up for the price of everyhting I can get a cobra, and mod it in two years to run with 70's

A modded out anything still will not keep up with a cobra. That is given that both riders are equal. The motor design of the mineralli based engine just isn't as effecient as the Cobra/KTM design. And the cobra suspension is ready to go. Of course different people may like different setups, arms or shocks . But that is a personal preference. Now, this is for the 50cc only. The 70 is a whole new ball game.:)

Lets say I get the cobra and run in the 50 class.. Will this machine with a 70 kit on it run with the 70 drr's. I'm really looking to avoid all the cvt tuning with rollers, belts, variators and all that stuff. If i have to buy a drr for 1900 and put 4 0r 5k into I'm just going to get a cobra. There are no rules in our local racing except age and cc's.

the cobra with the 70 kit will run away from most 90 auotmatics and the suspension is great for most riders. Give me a call and i will give you any info you may need. 248-699-0077

As far as the 70's, I can't give you a definite answer about motocross. But if it's TT or supermoto, then the cobra can't beat the Drx. But in the 50's, the cobra is faster in TT or motocross, hands down. :)

P.S. , if you do decide to go with a cobra 50, let me know, I've got one like new, engine mods, lots of spares, tons of sprockets. One of the fastest 50's in the nation, plenty of names to give you for references about it.:)

The ECX-50 will beat the DRR / APEX 50/70/90cc quads all day long. The thing about the ECX-50 compaired to the CVT quads is that the Cobra is lighter, wider, has more power, better suspension, shorter seat height, and is race ready right out of the box. No need to add wheels, nerf bars, suspension, engine work, ect. I sell/service them all so would be glad to answer any questions you may have 812 673-4958 or 812 622-0138
