GRRR Tranny

Alright im getting pissed off. I knew the tranny whines but ive never had it whine this bad 2 laps of hard riding on my local track and shes SCREAMING. I have an 06. Shes got some hours on her and im getting Worried im gona blow my engine or my tranny. Are the 08 models any better? i Spent 500+$ on powdercoat so i dont want to get rid of my chassis. I was considering buying an 08 motor and sending it out and getting a new much better transmission. I know that people are blowing gears on the 08s (my friend just did the other day)But if i get a tranny job that would fix that and i would get a brand new 08 motor so i would not have to worry about that. So the questions i need answered are.

Does the 08 motor fit in an 06 frame?

What is the best place to get a transmission job.

Do i have to get a new transmission ( new gears ect..) or can i send it to Yoshimura and have them use the ISF method. or does that not fix the blowig gear problem.

There is nothing dimensionally different between the two but why wouldn't you just rebuild the whole 06 motor? your going to spend 3500 on an 08 motor the 1500 in the trans......why not 1500 in the 06 you have? while the have it in peices they could freshen up the bearings......thing would be better then any 08 out

Plus you would have to get a new cdi,harness and tb to switch to the 08 motor. Send it to ATP and spend 3k and get back a beast.

i have an 06 and i started to here the tranny whine and when i heard it i would just come to a complete stop and go again,and it would be fine.
then i put ams oil into my quad and ran it and it stopd and i haven't heard it since

yea i do the same thing with the stopping but like a couple doubles later it starts again. amsoil fixed it? sounds good to me is it a specific atv oil or is it a car oil? and what do you use 10w40?

im not too sure which kind but i know it was atv oil i used but im pretty sure it was 10 40. what i did was just drained the oil out of the quad completey,put the ams in,then i started it up and let it idle for 2 mins then i took it out and i was good to go

Use an ATV oil. DO NOT USE CAR OIL.

I read that the 08 trannys are worse than the 06-07s. For my LTR I spent a extra $800 for a 2 year engine warranty only because I read constantly about the trannys going to crap and wanted to be safe.

I read some where I think it was here on exriders about just adding a little extra oil than what is recomended and thats supposed to stop the tranny wine.

When you do your oil changes put 1.5 quarts in the tank and .5 in the motor. I have never heard a tranny wine on my friends bikes or the two I have had and we all do the same thing.

You got ripped man. Mine was $376 for a 5 year, entire bike warrantee.
