i have a spare 250r frame i wanted to know if you can fit a 400ex motor into it and how hard it may be to do it. if someone can help me out i would be thankful

I think that's going to be a tough one. I ran downstairs and tried to wedge my blown 400EX motor into my '88 250R frame and took a few pictures. I'll try to take some better ones, if you want them.

Which generation 250R frame do you have? (First - '86 to '87, Second - '88 to '89)

Obvious things:

Lower motor mounts will have to change.

You might have issue with the carb arrangement. The 250R's is through the frame, and to the side of the shock, the 400EX is over the frame, down the middle.

The upper frame rails look to be too narrow for the head (this is why the 400 frame is so much taller). Part of the problem is the lower motor mounts on the R frame keep me from lowering the motor all the way in there. You might scope out the ATC350X hybrids to get an idea of what you'll run in to, though I think their heads are smaller.
