so my chain fell off a couple times a few weeks ago, and when my 14t showed up, i tightened it at the carrier. it was pretty tight.. maybe slightly more so than it needed to be. anyways, riding today my chain fell off again (going up a jump! go figure!). i get it back on and the chain is very loose, but the carrier collar hadn't moved. so i loosened the bolts and adjusted it out further, the chain tightened a little...... but it is now maxed out and the chain is still way loose.

is my carrier junk? or what could have happened? never been into one to know how they work.

Is the chain new? It sounds like the chain stretched and when you go to tighten it, it is too long and the slack doesn't get taken out.

the chain is not new.. but holy crap, i can't imagine it stretched that much in that short of time??? possibly i guess..

It would almost have to be the chain or the fact that the barring carrier turned in the swing-arm which you said it didn't. I'm not sure though.

a new chain should solve that

they don't you need a chain breaker tool. i picked one up for like 20 bucks. prob a new chain wouldn't hurt either.

And don't buy a 10.00 chain-spend the money for a good one.
