'05 450r...

I'm going look at an 2005 450R tomorrow afternoon. It's all stock, he's asking $3000 for it with helmet, goggles, and gloves. Actually ended up being a guy right down the road that i went to elementary school with. Anyways i know all the 450Rs are pretty much the same, but is there anything i should check out specific on the '05? And also does 3000 sounds like a good deal? All others are going for atleast 4k around here.

Just check it up and down... ITs easy to tell if its got alot of hours on it. 3,000 seems like a good deal. Take a good look at everything and make your dicision.

I don't think there is anything in particular to look for on the 05's... I could be wrong though.

Ask to see if it has the updated crank in it...

The crank is the biggie. Unfortunately, some of the cranks let loose, some of them don't. From what I gather, its a 50/50 shot on a crank. I was one of the unlucky 50. But now I have a pretty stout motor, so it didn't bother me too bad.

check the frame rails by the foot peg to see if paint is wore off because the more the paint is wore, the more its been rode. 3000 is a pretty good deal. i got my 04, wit only a year and a half of riding in 4 years for 3500

Ask about the maintenance, look for cracks in the frame, leaking oil/antifreeze.

well i went ahead and bought it. got it for 3k with a brand new pair of alpine boots. ill try and get some pics up tomorrow if im not to busy riding it all day :D . ready to put an exhaust on it and drop an hrc kit. the rest from there is nerfs, bumper, handlebars, suspension, etc. pretty stoked as this is my first 450. just hate going back to something with a darn pee shooter exhaust :mad: that will all be over soon though. :devil: what yall guys think about the dasa exhaust? good place to purchase it???

my friend just got a dasa exhaust for his kfx450. i think it sounds amazing. im pretty sure he got the exhaust off of fuelatv.com
