I also i have the shock relocate too. do you need shocks for a 400ex too? i have all that stuff that im gonna sell. I also have some stock 300 tires with decent tread or razr with decent tread. let me know

personally, i would steer away from that diamond j company. their stuff just looks kind of cheap to me...

you can, however, get one for 75 bucks shipped from a company called KOQ Racing (Kids On Quads)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-300EX-FRONT-SHOCK-RELOCATOR-BRACKET_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a570Q7c39Q 3a3Q7c66Q3a3Q7c65Q3a12Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3911 Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem380069556875QQitemZ380069556 875QQtimeoutZ1223400576511

or you can call them at 616-363-1215

I was looking at that also.. I have a bid on the diamond J for $50 with shipping.. I have heard good things quality wise (search forums).

If I could only find a cheap set of 400ex a-arms I am ready to go.

Yeah I have heard mixed reviews on the Diamond J's stuff but I have not had any problems with mine. Its pretty good quality stuff if I do say so myself.

Only if they made a swingarm bolt on extender... I need to go +2 with my new rear suspension.

BM@Ronayers

What kind of suspension setup are you doing?

dbc112

2004 LTZ400 fronts and rear shock
Shock reloc kit

Not sure what to do on the a-arm side, stock 250x a-arms with relo kit, 400ex standard, or 400ex with a-arm relo kit...

I was thinking the rear swing arm would be to short for the larger rear suspension setup, maybe not.

Overall I want to make the bike bigger, out and up. Any suggestions?

This is the setup of parts I have right now:

300EX:
Spindles
Tie-rod Ends

400EX:
Stock A-arms
Tie-rods
Shocks

Diamond J:
Shock relocater

I personally think the 400 front end is the way to go. It makes the front a good bit wider. Add some spacers and thats as wide as you need. My main reason for this is due to price. Aftermarket anything is so expensive for the 300's, or anything for that matter. My setup works good for what I do, which is trails and some moto. I have not changed anything on the rear. I can send you a picture of mine sitting beside a stock 450 to show you the stance if you would like.

yeah send anything.. .Work is the other option today, and thats not happening.

What are you running?

just so you know, not everything is going to bolt right up. for instance, i'm positive that the z400 rear shock won't work and the front shocks will make it sit REALLY high in the front

just buy these things and you'll be golden

stock 400ex a-arms (overall about +1.25 on each side)
stock 400ex shocks (or aftermarket)
stock 400ex tie-rods
the KOQ Racing relocator (cheaper than diamond j and appears much stronger)

or you can save yourself all that trouble and just get aftermarket 300ex a-arms. burgard cycle has theirs for only 350 right now. they also give you the choice of +1, +2, or +3 (all are +1 forward to increase quads overall length) they also come with tie rods of the correct length. and if you bought those, you could keep all your stock equipment without worrying about things fitting correctly.

just sayin'

That sucks, Already bought the z400 rear, cheap but still.. How bad of a mod is it? Looks like it bolts directly up.... stance to high?

Oh well.. I may figure something out... we will see. At least it is worth a try. Tahnks for the info.

Yeah it appears that the Z shock uses a link while the 300 is a direct bolt-on. Now if you are so inclined you can get a 450R swingarm or an '89 250R swingarm (I think 89) and weld a bracket to your frame to run a link. What is your email? I am trying to post a pic on here but I guess its to big.

no, it really will not work. it's too long, uses linkage, and there's no room for that reservoir. trust me, save yourself the trouble

however, the 2001 660 raptor shock does bolt right up. the other years work, but it involves cutting an un-supportive bar off the frame. it doesn't hurt anything, but i hate the idea of taking something OFF the frame. the 2001 shock has a remote reservoir (connected by a hose line)

just some thoughts to keep into consideration

ohh.. I get it.

ok 660r then, that will work. And ltz400 fronts..

Which unsupported bar is cut? The place I will return the ltz rear only has 02's.

if you look under your seat, there's two "support" bars that go into the airbox (though the only thing they're actually supporting are keeping the airbox up)

you have to cut the left one off, i think. don't quote me on that, though. just know that one of those comes off.

Sorry to be retarted... so the 400ex rear shock will work also? I just want to avoid the huge front and low rear

Sorry to be all over the map, I also have taken a pic of the frame. I would think this is the "supporting" piece for the airbox. Way huge for an airbox. See pic with yellow circle... This is whats cut for an 02 or later raptor 660 rear suspension.

no, the 400ex rear shock will not work. it's actually VERY near the same thing as the Z400 shock. i think the only difference is the valving and bolt sizes

and yes, that's the "support" you cut off. not my favorite mod, but in all reality, that piece has no structural value. in other words, cutting it shouldn't weaken your frame significantly.

like i said, though, i'm not 100% as to if that's the right side or not. wait until you get your shock so you don't end up having to cut both off lol

why are the 01 raptor rear shocks so freaking expensive? I got my 04 ltz rear for $40 shipped. b

just about any shock that has a remote reservoir will be more expensive because they're easier to rebuild, you can add longer hoses, and they're just more convenient

I am interested in using a 450r swinger with the z400 rear shock I have. Send me any pics and info. How hard it is to weld the linkage, or can you bolt it on (preferred). My bike needs to be longer in the rear, to wheelie happy.

Got this from 300ex info thread..
"a 450R swingarm will also work, how ever this set-up requires tabs to be welded or bolted to the frame to accept the linkage".

The KOQ shock relocator is a decent unit, ONCE IT IS ON. Do not expect it to be easy. If you have the support for the stock front plastic that has to be cut and jury rigged to keep the stock plastic. If you use race cuts this is no problem. As for mounting the relocator itself it will have to be bent and pounded and tweaked and CUSSED AT. Have a grinder ready too. And it would have been easier with the plastic off. That said, once it is on it is sweet. Looks good and works well.
