Hey everyone, I have a 2000 400ex I just got last weekend and was thinking about upgrade options
Should I upgrade to a 426 big bore with all the goods or drop in a 450r engine and upgrade the 450r?
Also how much better would a big bore 426 be over a 450r engine? Any comparison at all?
Lots of information would also be helpful

All it depends on is how much money you got. If you got it then the 450r swap would be awesome.;)

I think I'll order the 450r motor when I get money and do it for a winter project

I have a 426 Kit in my 400EX and it is super nice. Lots of power and runs with my buddies YFZ. The 450R motor is much more high strung and has got to be revved constantly. The 400EX motor does not have to be. If you are riding woods the 400EX is where its at. I had an LTR and a 450R and perfer the 400EX over both of them

Hey Lonestar will your ex outrun them on top end?
Isn't the 426 a stroker kit or is it just a big bore? I keep finding different stuff about it online.

Don't know about the top end. Never run them in a straight out drag race. Mine is a 426 bore no stroke. and my head is ported and polished with a Stage one Hot cam and a 39 mm FCR
