Hard Steering

I have a 86R, it has stock a arms and I now have 450 shocks but even when I had the stock shocks it was hard to steer, I could let go of the bars when turning and it would stay turned even over bumps, It does have a anti vibe stem,and I allready checked the clamp up top, but other than that Its stock on the front end, Could you over tighten the nut on the bottom of the stem and that could cause the stiffness in the steering

Might try checking the ball joints.I would disconnect the tie rods and start checking things from there.

is the lower spacer in place?

I had that apart awile ago and they move smoothly.

Is the spacer on the bottom between the nut and the bearing on the bottom
