If i were you i would get a hose(that wasn't frozen) and lightly mist the jump. I f you pour water on it, it will melt no matter how cold the water is. Just lightly sprinkle it and hopefully it will freeze up overnight.

built the kicker another 1/4 bigger the size then you want the finisghed product to be. if you have a snowboard, or even a sled, you kneel on the side of the kicker and run the snowboard up and down the kicker with great pressure, i do this when i build snowboard jumps and it works great. a little watter isnt a bad idea, put some on and walk on the kicker, have "gentle feet" and walk around it to pack, also build the back support of the kicker huge, bigger then you think! even using a flat peiace of wood isnt a bad idea, just lay that on the kicker and walk on that.

well i think i listed every way to pack in a snow kicker...

:D

If you're worried about the kicker getting too icy, just stud your tires.

i just roll up and down with the quad then put on more snow then roll on it again with the quad to pack it down nicely, just use the front tires

yeah quatrixx I was doing this yesterday but it was not enough.

you gotta put water on it and pack it while its damp then let it freeze, if its too icy throw a lil sand on it or stud yer tires

scratch what everybody else said this is how you pack a jump
build it then put either furtalizer or salt on the face and let it sit for a day and a night. the furtalizer or salt will lower the freezing temp of the snow and make it hard. trust me this is how we prepared the World cup ski track in lake louise. its hard as rock.

and this is how we build our kickers for our sleds. it works do it this way and save your self the trouble

yeah or you could throw the water on it....works just as good, doesnt salt melt ice?

with the salt it works way better trust me. it hardens it more evenly. if you let it sit for a day or two it hardens over night. water will soak through the snow and you end up with holes. its how ive always done it with great results. its how pro snowmachine riders build there kickers in the backcountry and there hittin there jumps hard.

havnt you guys ever laid a string on and ice cube, then put salt on it? The salt will melt it temporarily, eventually the coldness of the snow/ice will rereeze with a crusty layer on top.

thank you derek.
the ice will only melt for so long untill the salt is disolved.

Simple suggestion, riide your quad up and down it until its packed but make it bigger than uw ant it so it will end up being a good kicker then throw some sand on it a lil to get that much more traction.

I built a kicker in the snow last winter but havent gotten around to it this winter yet simply because we dont really have any snow yet.. but anyways I did almost exactly what MILF_HUNTER did except i made the jump a little bigger and steeper then I wanted it to be and put a sheet of ply wood over it and shaped the jump how i wanted, then we put salt on it and let it sit for a while. but it wasnt long till we found the jump losing its lip and it wasnt as fun to jump anymore so we reshaped how we wanted it and just left the sheet of ply wood on there and it lasted all winter till the snow melted. If we ever get some snow here I will make mine and take some pics of it.

put salt your mom or your dad or you would use to melt ice around the house. find out what your town or city uses to clear the streets. yea unfortinatly snow jumps dont hold up to abuse that well unless there solid as heck. have fun

Mine kinda looks small from the pic but its really like 4' tall and 4' high. not that big but a lot of lift. it'll launch me a good 12 feet if i hit it fast enough. i also have a wooden landing ramp for it too.
