Right now the only place that allows/holds 3wheeler MX racing is OHIO. the next race i believe is the indoor series in Jan/Feb. I'll be sure to get vids of the racing.

wow, it looks great nice job! i give you a ton of credit for racing that thing.

is it hard to keep the front end down?

with the stock TRX swingarm and my modified motor Yes. I had a custom length Walsh swingarm made that helps keep the front end down. With a stock motor i'm sure the stock TRX swingarm would be fine for trail use.

what length swingarm? I'm having a trike w/ crf450r motor built, very similar copy to a stock frame. I was gonna use a +2 85-87 length. Not sure on the suspension yet, I want it to be cr500, he's not sure if he can do it, basing it on the stock frame.

The Swingarm is 2" longer then the 06-up TRX 450R. Ituses's The walsh "savior"/CR 500 Link set up with a PEP shock.

when you say very similar o a stock frame do you mean stock ATC 250R or CRF?

FYI I will be offering Conversion Kits in Jan 09. The kits will include frame, Triples, Front Hub/axle. Everything else is off the shelf 06 TRX/CRF 450R. The front fender is a 87 200X but i'm working on having my own made.

very similar to a stock atc frame. The guy has my near mint 86 frame for measurements. He's doing it a flip-top rear fender using 400ex rear fenders and seat.

WOW, i finally found the "original" thread on this...http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=227401&perpage=13&highlight=ATC450R&pagenumber=1...i had forgot about this site and my old user name (Now My sig).

Its cool to read the old "hater" comments. It's funny, before it's completion on every board this was posted the comments were mostly negative. since it's completion it's been 100% positive.

Thanks

yeah, it is funny how ignorant people can be. I did think you were alittle cracy for cutting up a new quad, but you had a goal and completed it very good. I completely understood the part about hard to find/discontinued parts too. I still say, a good trike rider on a good machine can complete with most quads. I was at Rausch Creek a few weeks ago with my trike. I did most/all the jumps and kept up with almost every quad there, mine isn't too much more than quite modified atc250r, still uses stock forks and stock type suspension(the 2 biggest downfalls). I had the frame built(broke/destroyed 3 stock frames) to use some newer parts.

Now I'm having 2 more trikes built, crf450r motor and modified 86 200x motor(maybe a future dirtbike motor comvert), they are gonna use crf/trx brake parts, pro-pegs, 400ex fender/seat, inveted forks, stock crf450r header and pipe(easy to get) and hopefully something better than stock type suspension(cr500 or no-link). About the only atc parts that will be used are short track kits, 86-89 250r rear end parts, pwr radiator and not much more(besides the trike motor in one).

death, have you ever considered going to Smith Rd? do you have time frame (i know hard to predict) for completion?

I want to really badly. I had a 2 week vacation in january(florida) and it would have been hard to get time from work during the summer months and money(10-12 hours each way for me, roughly 800 miles @11 mpg, gets expensive fast). I want to go this coming year, no vacation to florida, so I might be able to 2-3 times. I always talk about it, but when it comes down to it, for one reason or another I can't. I really wish I even had good atv riding around me, I got little(legal riding) and its either at night(no trikes allowed) or 150-200 miles away. I hardly ride my atv's now, dirtbikes get 90% of the riding.

As for time frame on completion, I really don't know. I don't think too much has been done on the frames yet. The frames are being built from scratch(hi-stregnth cro-moly). I am done with using stock frames, after 20+ years and the inferior metal they used, they don't hold up to abuse.

I know how the drive/gas situation can be. I'm sure you could hook up with Louis or myself to share exspenes. we both are not that far from you.

I totally agree with you about the OLD frame issue. I have trashed more then my share of 350X and 250R frames in the last 20yrs. That is why i am so adimently against putting larger USD forks and bigger/heavier motors in X, R, or Z frames. I think G's 450R looks cool but even he will admit it would not hold up to MX use.
