fourtrax 300? New to me? where?

Ok guys,
New to this forum, and looking for help. I just picked up a 96 fourtrax 300 2wd. for my wife and kid to ride around the farm. The thing was in unbelievavly goos shape - a granpa farmers irrigation pipe mover and horse feeder vehicle.
First of all - what is the proper subforum for my posts? is this it - or is there a better place?

anyway, the idle doesn't work very well - I have to floor it and choke it to get it to start - and it won't idle , other than that it rides and performs great. So since the climer manual says don't screw with the idle adjustment - I assume I am looking at some sort of carb cleanout. I hate carbs - give me FI anyday - but thats another story!

Their is a 300ex section under "sport qauds under 350cc" but it sounds like maybe the pilot jet in the carb is dirt which would cause it to not idle.

yeah i agree with 400ex07..sounds like ur gunna need a good carb clean =/

x3, I think the pilot is clogged.

the carb will be easy to clean, the hardest part is getting all the fenders off to get to it...but once the carb is cleaned...you should be in good shape...

the correct forum would be the "other utility atv information" section as i am assuming this is like my pa-in-laws machine, and not the sporty 300ex
