ok, so I'm tird of switching stems out. I ride hard and seem to bend stems often. what are the disadvantagesn of having an aftermarket stem? i heard they tend to bend other stuff when flippd? wassup? better to have stock, or after?

was it the stock stems you were bending or the aftermarket? aftermarket some are a little stronger and much more money.

I always replace with stockers...cheap, and I 've heard after's bend other more vital stuff. so I was just wondering what the other stuff was that could be bent due to a stonger stem...other that bars.

If you get an aftermarket stem, get a set of renthal twinwall bars also, that will eliminate the bending of a vital part, and they the strongest bars i have ever seen.

Twinwalls are very strong but they wont work on a 400ex unless you dont mind 2 1/2 inches of your grips hanging over with nothing inside them

Thats why you should make your own stuff, like a dirtbike killswitch for a starter. And mount switches hidden for the lights somewhere out of the way, it looks alot cleaner too. I would have done it by now but my wiring skills just arent that good yet.

i have a +1 LSR in mine.. ive rolled it a couple times and the only thing that tends to bend are the bar clamp bolts. and u can get new ones for $4.

^^ So the bolts are not part of the mount? Mine seem like they are fused together and one of the bolts is bent.

thanks for the replies!

I just bought my last stock stem used....if this one bends, i'm going aftermarket!!! But for 30 bones....stock will do for now...again.
I'll prolly stick with my flexx bars...they seem pretty durable, and have bolted pivot points that seem to take the blunt of any bending forces.

thanks again!

you got your stem, and ur bar clamps. bottem and top. the bottem bolt to the stem itself, if u look under ur stem u will c the nut. thats what bends every time i roll mine.
