I have NEVER been able to get all the oil off my filters since i switched from a K&N to a foam. What are you guys using to fully clean it, if you are using gas, i dont wanna hear it...lol I use PJ1 foam filter cleaner, but i go through a can in two cleanings, and the filter still isnt clean. Let me know your secrets!

I use PJ1 foam filter cleaner it works awesome. spray the filter, rub it in and let it sit 15 min and spray it off. I have had great results. A can last for me at at least 10 cleanings

Letting it sit long enough is key.

Cleans mine really good, been using it for a few years.

Gas just makes the filters crumble apart after about a year for me.

lol thats the reason I went K&N. Not so much for best performance but for ease of cleaning and oiling.

No-Toil oil and cleaner works great.

No Toil is the easiest, but you have to start off with a new filter, and use nothing but No Toil products on that filter.... I love No Toil!!!!!!

your spraying way too much on, i used PJ1 and the can would last probably 10-15 cleanings, i spray it on, let it sit, put dish soap on it and rub that in, then rinse out from the inside. im using UNI cleaner now and it works great but you use alot more then you use PJ1

I used carb cleaner a little. Will this hurt the filter after repeat cleanings?

I would say so. carb cleaner is some strong stuff and can even mess up the seals in your carb

Oh alright no more using that then.

i wouldnt think carb cleaner would have a drastic effect on the carb, i would worry about the glue that holds the foam to the rubber tho, gas works great too but it dries it out too much and it will take the glue off.

diesel fuel works well then follow up with Dawn dish detergent. It doesn't eat the filter like gas.

I am a No Toil convert too. It is just so easy to clean the filters.

I also tried diesel for a while, worked great for me. Only thing that sucks is finding a place to get rid of dirty stuff.

I think the hard part about cleaning foam filters is to get them completely dry.

Very true, thats why it's nice to have two so one is ready to go while the other one is drying out.
