carb wont fit

i have a ex/426 hybrid with a FCR mx carb and it will not fit in the frame unless its cocked sideways. Then it runs like s**t if i run it that way. I was told to use a 400ex carb boot but not really sure. What is the best setup for my application? :confused:

I think a lot of people were notching the frame for carb clearance.Do a search,it has been done many times:)

get ahold of ss440ex(Al), he should have pics of how he notched and re-enforced the 400 frame.

Yes, I just got my ex chassis back from my welder and that is what we did. We notched a pretty big chunk out of the frame. I have a pics that ss440ex sent me. I could email them to you. I'm sure he wont mind.

i have that same problem! i dont get it! what the heck... the guy i got it from choped the factory piece in the lft corner out and its weak as hell how so i welded a little thing in there but i was hopin to find a different chassie and get a hose and bend it up and a around.... i have a really thin rubber piece in the front now and theres just enough for the boof from the box to fix... but my line for gas is gettin cut off...

i notched my frame. i think its about an inch in from the frame u start. i put a brand new cut off wheel on and just ground it down then bend a hunk of 1/8th inch flat bar to the correct contour. layed a weld around it. buffed it a little. the carb slid on then i took a hunkof radiator hose. and slipped it over the carb cut it off about 5 inches long and i slid it into the 400ex boot wich i cut down about two inches. i put some blue rtv cealent around the radiator hose slid it into the 400ex boot, clamped it and it ran like a champ.

i can get a picture of the notch. but im parting th quad out and its in pieces ill try to get a pic though.
