i have a 250x i got from a guy..

the machine is fine to start once you have had it started but its a bare to get started when it gets cold. now i have been over the valves .0004in intake and exhaust and adjusted the decompression valve but its still a pos to get started... even with a bump start behind my truck it takes a wile.. any ideas would be great!

I used to have a 250x. I had the same problem twice with it. A new spark plug fixed it both times.

have tried many new plugs but still wont start i am thinking it may be a week spark problem. it has spark but not a great spark. i just got a book on the machine and gonna try some tests ton.

ok well today we went and tested all the electrical it all seems to be right. it has 165 pounds of compression. checked the valves again there right on the money. all the stock jetting and stock settings. this thing is down right stubborn. i may check the timing but would it run funky?

well today i took the valve cover off. the timing was perfect. i also took the carb off and filled the intakes with solvent to check to see if there was any valve seat trouble and three hours and no leaks. i also went threw the carb again with the book and measured all that i could and set every thing up the best to stock i could. and no luck no cold start.. i just dont no what to do with this thing. has spark fuel compression... but wont start.
