My yfz will not start..It turns over like it wants to but nothing. Could it be that im not getting enough compression through my valves...or could it be my piston rings??

Any info would be great!!

Thanks

Is is getting fuel, spark, etc? Check the obvious first. After you have the above, check the timing and do a compression test. Let us know.

Check electrical, if you have a kill switch I'd start there. Then I'd check all your connections and the fuses on the battery.

It could be your valves or top end, but if it ran before that without any problems I cant imagine thats it all the sudden

well...it started running like sh*t like 2 weeks ago right before my race.. Then like it had trouble starting. But now like it turns over..I checked my kill swith..thats fine. My fuses and battery are fine. I'm going to take the head off next to see if my valves are tight.

Thanks a lot guys..I will let you know whats going on!!

That sounds so much like what mines was doing its scary. Mine wouldnt idle worth a ****, and backfired somethin fierce. Do a compression check, mine was somewhere around 100, and when the guy doin it took the head off he seen the piston and rings and cylinder were all bad. Sounds like we're in the same exact spot dude

Yah, cylinder and everything. The guy doin it said the valves look like they had a little bit of wear on them but I'm not worryin bout that right now, I just want to finish out the GNCC season, so I'll put valves in it this winter.

You do a compression check yet?

I found the problem guys...I adjusted the valves and put the new shims in and it fired right up...My compression test was around 70-72.

Thanks a lot for all your help!!
