I got the 160cc installed and ucertain on how to wire it up, is there any harm in spiceing the plug from the 125cc to the new motor ther wires seem to be the same? Will the 125cc harnes run the 160cc ie. coil, revlimiter? dont know what to do (if anything) with the starter solenoid? Could just tape it up out of the way. All that is left is the wires and the oil cooler. The oil cooler will go back where the stock one was but it seems too close to the head is it worth it to move it father away to keep it cooler or what? The flex lines that came with the gpx 160cc do not work very well I would need to make up new lines, is it worth the extra efort to do that? Any input would be great. thanks

Does your new motor have the IRK kit, electric start? I installed a gpx 140 in my typhoon and it was completely different than stock. It is a kickstart only. The oil cooler that came with it didn't work with mine either, so I used the stock one. I have had some carb tuning issues, but other than that has ran great for about 5-6 hours so far.

This is how mine is wired. The bottom of the page shows the irk kit.

The gpx 160cc is kickstart only, the wires coming out of the motor seem to be the same as the typhoon harnes has, did the 140cc come wired for lights or just wired for motor? I got the 160 wired for lights. What did you do with the starter wires? Did you use the coil and cdi box tha came with your 140cc?

I did not get the irk kit. What does it do for it?

Inner rotor kit makes it rev much faster, i used the cdi that came with the motor and stock coil. All other wiring is gone. You should be able to wire everything but the starter and just leave those disconnected.

no lights on mine.

What is in the kit to make the rpms go up faster? If the 125cc motor has the kit in it do you think it will work on my 160cc that i just put in the quad? Will the irk kit shorten the life of the motor?

The IRK kit just lightens the rotating weight on the crankshaft, I'm am not sure how it would hurt the motor. the 125 in the typhoon doesn't have the kit.

What oil are you runing in your 140cc? How is the stock oil cooler working out? What break in (if any) are you following?

Did any one use the exhaust adapter to go from honda style pipe to gpx motor?

the easiest way to wire it is just pull the whole typhoon harness off and get one from a pitster pro pit bike. you just need a ing coil and a cdi. any pitster pro dealer can get that for you. then you have to wire in the tether kill switch and your ff and running.. i am running the complete harnes, exhaust, and oil cooler set up off of my pitster pro x4r pit bike in my sons typhoon. if you have any questions or need pics let me know i will have my sons bike out of the trailer this weekend.

Hanzito, did have any trouble with the carb, on the 160cc gpx in the typhoon? My carb seems to set at an angle, with parts that came with the motor, did you use anything else to get the carb to set straight? Can you go over your installe for me?
Thanks.

Okay, now I'm thinking you're a bit obsessed :ermm: . You pull up 20 different posts and copy and paste the same thing on them to try and get us to vote for you... That's a bit obsessed if I say so myself on this one Russ. Also, on most sites that would be against the rules and would DQ you from the contest (Soliciting votes from your peers).
