what to look for when buying?

I'm going to look at and probably buy a hybrid this sunday. I haven't dealt much with them, so I was wondering what are some things to look for when inspecting them? If it matters it's a '01 400ex/'98 YZF400.

mainly look to see how well the engine, radiator ect. are mounted.

also see if theres any play in the ball joints by turning the bars side to side.

sping the axle and wheels to make sure the bearings are good.

make sure its not leaking anything

not smoking

Hard say especially since it's a mod job, unless you're familiar with hybrids it will be difficult to inspect and know EXACTLY what to look for.

Got there and it was pretty ragged out and lost compression whenever he drove it a bit to warm up. Needless to say I passed. I'm looking at an '04 450R tomorrow though. It's got around $1000 put into it and the guy said it's in near mint condition for $3000. I'll probably get it unless it's not what he said.
