anybody had this problem & what did you do to fix it. The quad is a 450R. the side panels. under the gas tank towards the front there is a post which goes in to a rubber washer. but the point of the plastic get hung up on my boots. both sides.
thinking of drilling a hole & zip tie it tight against the frame so it won't come out.
Your thoughts?

Hey Les, Flyboy complained months ago that it was happening to him on the 04. I have a friend that has a little track (good for those 1 hour rips. Go 1/2 hr one direction & go the other way the last 1/2 hr. No equipment to take care of it. Then it happen to me last ride & 10-4 on the .....
I'm going to zip tie it. You gotta drill thru 2 pcs. of plastic.
PS don't drill into the gas tank
See ya at Fallfest. We'll be the Adrenaline Hauler up by the mess hall.

Did you ever end up doing it? You could maybe even put a sticker or something over it to cover it up

Lonestar makes a tank guard that you can use bolts to hold it in place...

Thanx, but zip ties are way cheaper & everyone has them - even in colors ;)

I just ran a small bolt & washer through the plastic with a washer and nut on the backside of the grommet and so far it's holding pretty good. Make sure the washer is large r than the grommet so it holds in place. Cost about 20 cents.
It's a pain in the a*s to get your finger behind the plastic to thread the bolt but it can be done. Shouldnt be a problem for most cuz I've got fat sausage fingers:devil: :blah:

I can get one. just take a small drill bit & drill thru the plastic you are trying to hold flat & there is another plastic piece behind that. Drill thru the both of them. make sure you have the big part of the tie under neath & then all u see is about 1" of the tie. You can do it. If by chance you mess up just use another tie. Don't drill into the motor - it's right behind the 2nd pc. of plastic. Use your fingers to feel it.

Do you think there will ever be a problem of it pulling through the plastic?
