View Full Version : Just got done racing a KFX...

Just got done racing one. Both around the woods track behind my house and down a dead end street. It was pretty close in the real tight stuff (2nd gear barely off idle areas) but anywhere I could open up the throttle and I'd just pull more and more of a lead. By the time we'd raced 20 laps or so I'd guess I was 2/3 of a lap ahead. My woods track only has one straight that's a short 4th gear for me and the rest is basically all 2nd and 3rd gears.
The drag was ugly. Last time I've seen anyone get beat this bad his name was Michael Spinx:D The section of road is 4th gear pinned and if you have a parachute off the back you may grab 5th for a short time before coming to a stop sign. He got about a 1/2 bike drop on me but by the time the shift to second happened I was pulling a wheel on him and it went south for him in a hurry. I was in 4th gear and the last I checked I guess I was a good 5-6 bike lengths and was beginning to brake for the stop sign. We both took it well, no bragging and no making excuses. We both said "good race" and that was about it. Sorry I don't have any action pics (it's a little tough holding a disposable camera at 60+mph and looking backward to take a pic).

Sounds pretty much identical to when I raced the Z400 in a drag....long drag too, able to top out in 5th gear. I don't know what the Z400 and KFX owners are smoking, but there are NO stock quads worthy of racing a Cannondale. This view is the most seen by other riders, so the whole "frog" look complaint doesn't really hold water. ................JIM:D

hehe, your gonna catch some crap over this Im sure, I will just let some fly........ I raced a Z the other day with my 16yr old smoking pos turd that I have called honda, and didnt do too bad, lets just say, it wasnt a race, he was merely watching me leave him, too bad he didnt have 6 gears, so he could have had a better veiw of my rear as I left him. Ok thats beside the point, congrats on whoopin something with about 1/4 the technology your machine has, not to mention 30 something cc advantage. Just pickin with ya :D

why not race one with a 440 kit to make it a little more fair!!! Was it a stock bike? I know a Z with a 440 kit/pipe/tires will out run a stock z by 7-10 bike lenghts!! Lets compare 440 to a 440

A 265R won't get the job done?
My R is only .020.With a port and polish from a no name speed shop.FMF pipe and silencer,Stock carb,rad valve and 18 inch tires with stock gearing.(That is all that matters in a drag.Alot more done to the suspension though)
Anyway against craptor's in drags I get them by 6-8 bikes everytime.Gauranteed.One of them had motor work done and I still got him 3 bikes.I will be willing to put my bike up against a dale.Same with on the track.
Like Beans,Mine also seems to be a state of disassembly.
Don't get me wrong.I love cdales.They are my dream bikes.

To answer your question, I'm not afraid of a Banshee with T-5's and a filter. Been there, done that. My best friend had a 2001 Shee with T-5's, a Uni filter and Uni-vents. I beat it on my Raptor to 5th gear but then I ran out of top speed and Scott still had 6th gear to go and he began to walk me then. Another one of my friend's bought it and it's in the same condition but now has .020" over Wiseco's. I'm not too worried...

a nice 265 isnt shabby, i must say, but Dales aint either, who cares, they both are nice, both are fast, both are the top 2 wanted bikes of must PRO racing classes, not counting hybrids
im bored .20 over, T5's, boyseen power reeds, dynojet jet kit, no airbox with K&N clamp ons straight off carbs, the guy i bought it from had a 99 stock shee, 02 LRD raptor, 02 C-Dale cannibal with blaze mapping and fmf titanium 4 pipe, then he had my 01 shee, needless the c-dale stomped the raptor and the 99 shee, but when it came to the 01 shee, the c-dale just couldnt beat it :) be afraid, be very afraid :p this is pretty funny , dont get serious, its just a joke

It's not really as big of a pain as it sounds. 12-14 bolts and everything's off and the gas tank has quick-connect connectors on it. Now that I've done it once I bet I could have the plug changed and the quad completely back together in 15 minutes. But don't get me wrong, it's certainly not as easy as other quads and I hope the next generation of Cannondale's has that corrected.

I hear drag racing and I like the discussion. I have run banshees with that set-up you guys are talking about. It is a trade off. Whoever gets the holeshot wins in the 300 ft and I can hold him off barely in the 1/8. z400 not even close or the 400 ex or 416 ex (Marlin)
Beerock sounds like a plan we definitely have to catch up.

this just shows that your friend cant drag to well. A good dragger on a shes would beat a raptor everywhere hands down.:blah

dam you guys must be high or something no way a stock dale is gonna kill a stock z400 :rolleyes: come on the z400 would smoke it, aint no way a 440 race engine can beat a detuned 400z motor :huh . you guys crack me up its like comparing a 265r to a 265 power valve r.
if you dont beat a z even a piped and jetted z by 4 or more lengths you should be ashamed of yourself :D or unless you cant ride like me ;) .
ill still smoke and cannandale, 400ex, predator and i dont care how built it is bring it on........only thing is we have to race in reverse :blah :)
a good trinity 440 kit or even a trinity 465 stroker in a 400ex will beat a c-dale, still its nice how they both can beat alot of 686 raptors even though we have 200cc's less.

noo!! it cant be. i beat a few cdales with 90cc less than they have :huh :huh it was fun roosting all over raptors and c-dales...i just had weiscos bored .40 over i think, t5's, filter, vents, and thats all i kno of for now. o btw if u have a shee with 22inch baloon tires on it wont top out so u can beat anything out there. with 20s on it revs out alot quicker...with 22s on i never fully topped it out in like a mile run....

Bee, the better low-end of the Raptor allowed me to get the jump on him and hold him off through the first 4 gears. The result was always the same whether Scott was riding, my brother or my cousin. But, once I got tapped out in 5th gear I could hear the Toomey's screaming and they were getting louder! Once I reached terminal velocity the Shee could wind out 5th and then go to 6th and he'd pull me like a freight train then. I've got no doubts that a stock Cannondale would beat a piped/filtered Shee in a typical drag race. Now, really long runs where the name of the game is pure top speed I'm sure the Shee would outrun it.

a 350cc 2 stroke should destroy a 432 4 stroke but the fact is it don't. I wouldn't be bragging about having 82 less cc and still winning.
yep its funny, 660ccs or rapturd turn to dust when 250ccs of honda outrun it. thats what..a 410cc advantage, thats emabarassing aint it.
