CRF450 cam chain need new guide? looks to thin

is it cool to run the crf chain with the same old 400ex tensioner? Looks like the tensioner guide has ridges on both outer sides. Will the crf chain ride between them? or is it too wide? Just wondering if anyone had any problems before I buy a new tensioner for winter rebuild

I haven't heard of anybody having an issue with this. I'm running one on my same stock tensioner and guides...been like that for a couple years now.

same here. ran it on my stock 400ex guide. no issues here. never heard of anyone having them either....

I always recommend replacing the tensioner. Mostly because I pushed it and it bit me. I don't know that you have to worry about the guides too much. Although I replaced mine because tensioner took the guide with it.
