pro armor kill switch

cant get the pro armor kill switch hooked up rite, i did what the dealer told me to do and it didnt work, so nebody who has one hooked up wanna tell me how you installed it

I used to have some pictures, but can't find them now. Did you wire directly into the key? That is what you have to do.

ya but it didnt wrk maybe i did it wrong howd you do it did you have one wire going to a ground and one to the key? or both to the key?

ther isnt just a black wire and a blk n white wire, the dealer told me to ground one wire and hook the other one to the col wire thats hot

Both wires to the key. You can sauder, but I actually put in plugs so I could un-do them if the need ever arose.

Are you wiring in the red switch or the key? I would think you would wire to the red switch.

i said screw it so the dealer is gonna do it since its there getting the new sproket put on and breaks fixed

who has a PRO ARMOR kill switch hooked up to a DS450? the dealer said it wont wrk on the ds

Yeah, I tried to get my Pro Armor to work on the red switch and it won't work. If you used a NC kill switch, I think it would.

I'm not sure, but the red switch grounds out the ignition, killing the motor. WIth a NC, you could run it off the black/white and black wires and it would work.

I'm going to have a buddy that knows more about wiring look at it, I'll tell you straight up, I'm F'in stupid with wires..lol.

it dont work, its an open kill switch not closed... some one correct me if im wrong i mite have it backwards

Theres a factory harness up front it plugs right into. You cant run a wire to the black hot and ground the other to the frame it will blow the ECM fuse......this one needs a closed loop, ground back to the battery in the factory harness....you have to build up a harness to the pro armor wires that plugs right in to the factory, it's easy.

Let me know if you need some pics Im tearing our quad down this weekend for the motor mods....

I may be mistaking and if I am I hope someone corrects me here, but a "Normally Open" tether wired into the black and black/white wire going to the key switch.

If that is correct, Pro Design and Pro Armor will both work.

it wont work i tryed for days to get it hooked up and i finally took it to the dealer and they tried n realized it wouldnt work on the ds

Forgot some of you guys have 08's…Ill check the harness connectors and see where the wires are going if you can hold off to Sunday when I get the plastic off and I got time. 09 there is a connector sitting right there for the kill I am surprised 08's don't have it? 09's they were going put it on production models then decided not to for legal reasons is what I heard so they connector is there….08/09 wiring s/b the same. That kill drove my nuts for a week so I feel your pain...

It will work, cause thats how mine is wired in, and it works just fine, hasnt caused any problems yet, and it been close to a year

Upper two wires I put in a connector plugs right into the factory one. Hope this helps!

Can you confirm me that there is no danger to burn the ECM or anything on the atv doing so? I will use my pro armor kill switch I was using on my 400EX.

Yes thats the one, the ECM has a fuse theres no way you'll fry it before that fuse blows, fear not my freind if you use that connector it plugs right into a black & black/white wire correctly. You can see the wires I am referring to at the bottom of the connector. Good question tho it any fuse were to blow from connecting the kill wrong it will be the ECM. You can get the kill side connector from BRP.

FYI: 08's don't have the connector you have to splice in w/some water proofers you get at the auto store.

For a 2008 DS attach the kill switch (Pro Design or Pro Armor type) leads to the Black and Black/White wires on the key switch. It doesnt matter which way they go around as long as its makes a circuit. We cut into the wiring further down the loom away from the key switch as shown on the attached photo. There is a slight pause when you pull the tether but this is normal.

For an 09 just use the connector at the front.
