View Full Version : Diamond J Brackets?

Anybody ever seen this or have them on???

Ebay item # 180289438674


Basically the bracket bolts to the frame where the A-Arms and Shocks would normally bolt and then the bracket extends out to the side and you reattach your stock a-arms and shocks to bracket, thus making your front end wider.

Any info?

I bought it for my 250ex a while ago and it worked awsome. But I bought the one with the conversioon kit so I could put 400ex shocks on it and it rides so smooth. But I didn't ride mx with but i did jump with it and it held up fine. I don'y know if i would get it for my 400ex. but if you want I can post a picture of the kit on my 250ex.

Have it on one of my EX's and on my Raptor. Love them both. Have extended a-arms on my other EX, love them more, but they are much more expensive. It's a cost/performance trade.

yea i got the same thing as HONDA10 (250 ex with 400ex shocks kit) but my 400ex wasnt as tippy as my 250 which by the way is great for duning now

If either of you have pictures that would be great.

1) Do you notice a lot more bump steer?
2) It looks like the mount for the shock is raised up, did it lower your quad at all?

Thanks for the help guys, I'm just looking for an inexpensive short term solution until I decide to spend the cash on longer a-arms. When I do the A-Arms I want to put new shocks on, so the bill is getting fairly expensive.

Heres a picture of it on my 250ex. I didn't feel any increased bump steer. It felt alot soother with the 400ex shocks and was overall a very good buy for the 250ex.

Did you notice any ride height difference? It looks like your shocks can be mounted in a couple different places??? Or is that just how the bracket is attached to the frame? Did that come with the kit?

I think it screws up the geometry and makes it handle funny

I think it sits a little lower but where the shock is mounted that is what the picture on the site had. The shock brackets come with the kit as long as you get the one that comes with the conversion kit. I don't think it handles funny at all.

I put the diamond j kit on my 05 250 ex because I could'nt see spending the money I spent on my 400ex suspension and the good thing is im impressed with the way the 250 rides but I would bet that a grand worth of suspension would ride better than the 200$ suspension from diamond j

Nice thinking, but wrong. How bout adding your two cents worth once you have some experience on the subject. Same effective geometry changes as using longer a-arms. I have both with a lot of ride time for comparison and actually modeled the geometries to see what the differences would be... negligible.

The ride height didn't change apprecialbly, and although you might expect a bit of bump steer because the tie rod geometry is slightly different, I have not been able do detect it with over a year's riding on both my 400EX and my Raptor660 with the kits.

ah I love this lol I hve ridden a quad with the kit so there my experience right there. It wasnt the same as extended a-arms either. Think of the angles extended a-arms would be slanted the whole way this kit moves the a-arms straight out and they are no longer parallel.

It should not change to much, everything is moved excatly the same amout so it should be the same.

I would agree, while I have no experience with the kit. I would think the geometry would stay the same was stock. It would be equivalent to having a wider frame, since both the upper and lower a-arms are moved the exact amount out the a-arm geometry should be the same. The tie rod length should be screwy, and that's why I was asking about bump steer.
