What kind of oil do you have to have for the foam air filter in a Honda Rubicon? Do you have to have a special kind or kind you just use regular motor oil like 10W-40 or somthing? Will it hurt my atv if I use regular oil?

In the long run, it could hurt it. Oiling a foam filter with motor oil is a heck of a lot better than running one dry. But there are oils specifically designed for foam filters. A filter oil's mission is to stay in place and collect particulates while still allowing good airflow. A motor oil's mission is mostly about lubrication. Also, foam filter oils often contain components that evaporate after applying. This helps ensure even penetration and what's left in the foam is super tacky--perfect for gathering up tiny specs of dust.

IMO, there's no good reason not to use a proper filter oil. The incidental cost and hassle of keeping filter cleaner and filter oil on hand is well worth it. Few things are as important for the longevity of your Rubicon than proper, regular air filter maintenance.

My preference is the spray on Bel-Ray foam filter oil and UNI filter cleaner but any brand should be fine.

Order it online or get it at a local motorcycle shop/dealership.

RockyMountain has always been good to me. http://www.rockymountainatv.com/typeDetail.do?navType=type&webTypeId=3&navTitle=Chemicals&webCatId=23

How do you clean one and how often should you do it?

I would start with reading the manual.
I can get the spray oil from any atv shop or auto parts store.
