Just got a new car, 1993 BMW 325is. Pretty sweet little car, 5 speed, full leather sunroof, nice stereo, no major problems.
Paid $1900. Only has 100k miles.
I am swapping from a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Anyone know much about these cars? Just wondering how reliable, if they have issues? Will post pics later tonight.

No I think that because most of their OEM parts are expensive.

and that is why you avoid the dealer at all costs, make sure if you buy parts you hunt em down at a local parts dealer like advance auto or autozone and also be sure to check all the local salvage yards. no offense fandl but people like yourself(may not necessarily be true) that pay that ridiculous price because its "factory" are the reason those prices are so high.

None taken. I don't usually use OEM parts with a few exceptions of course. Aftermarket is usually of better build quality and cheaper than OEM, but sometimes that's not always an option. Companies like BMW, Mercedes, Volvo etc tend to have higher priced parts in general.

i will have to agree with you though that the european cars tend to carry a higher price tag but you also must remember the difference in engineering and build quality in those cars. i'm just sick of paying the prices for parts on any car:D

My dad owns a shop and we do a lot of work on such cars as mercedes/bmw/audi and we use the dealer as our last source for parts because some part prices are crazy but there are tons and tons of companies who also have oem parts for these cars they just get great dealer discounts and then sel em to the public. Theres also always car-parts.com a great site

Thanks gentlemen, I am just looking to lessen the gas bill, and I get an insurance break to boot. I have been looking and you can make them look a lit better for a pretty low price. It has an aged apperance. I can't be ridin dirty LOL
