yea we are going to use fillers. we are only 14 so no bobcat, good old shovels:ermm: we were only there for like 2 hours today because its in an open field with no shade. it was just too hot

no offense but building a track with shovels its just plain impossible. Unless your building into the side of a hill or something I wouldn't get your hopes up on a big motocross track.

flyboy the best thing your going to be able to do is use things like logs, stumps, anything you can find that allows you to use less dirt. but in all reality dont get you hopes up like someone else
said. lots of work and now that schools in again not alot of time. good luck anyhow me and my friends tried to do this a few years ago but reallized that we were going no where fast.

This is a good way to keep out of trouble.

Trust me, even with equipment, it is a lot of work.

Good luck.....

pool your money and rent a d-5 dozier. I built a very nice practice track in two days.
It will take months or longer to build withs shovels, I tried that once too.

we are not trying to build something like breezewood. just a couple jumps on our track. just little ones that are like 4ft. tall. thanks everyone for the tips

If you're not looking for anything huge it's not that hard. I had a nice little track when I was younger. I would just dig the middle of the doubles out, making a jump and landing ramp. and dig berms into the ground.

I rented a D3GXL Dozer for a day for around $400. It was fun!

You will get no where with a shovel.

just to give you an idea, i do believe that dan told me that it took 100 loads of dirt to make the ski jump the way it is now(longer) then it was before. when he added on to it.:eek2:

I checked the boys out today & they got enough to have fun. Enjoy it quickly before they make a strip mall on the property. You know its hard to ride any where w/o someone complaining. Right? They are ambicous though - I saw one hole they dug & 3 men could be buried in there.

Hey - digging in the fresh air , soakin up the sun & having to ride it when you finish.

Now thats something to look forward to.

Don't forget to be positive in all you do. There's enough negative for everyone all the time.

Good luck boys.

i know your pain. i built jumps by hand. the heat doesnt bother me i built pools all summer in the 90 degree plus heat. we dig 75 percent of the deep ends by hand. youl get used to it. hard work will never hurt you. and if it doest hurt it will make u stronger and ull get a better night sleep. have fun.
