oil not draining during oil change

Hey Guys,

I have a 06 yfz450. I have changed the oil/oil filter many times before. I just opened my drain plug and only a little oil will come out. A friend of mine said something about the oil being blocked by a screen??? My oil reservior is retaining its oil, what do I need to do? We rode for maybe 5 hours yesterday, quad ran like a champ as usual . We ride in the desert if it matters.

there is a screen at the bottom of the tank where the line connects. if your tank is full of oil it should drain. maybe there is something blocking the drain hole

the drain plug doesn't seem to be blocked. it seems like there is a block from my reserve. what little bit that was in my engine came right out.

this is a well known problem

check out yfz central there are several topics about the oil screen. Not sure if that would cause the oil not to drain though
