i understand the main concept of "progression" and keeping the sports moving forward but does anyone understand the song? it just does not make a bit of since to me whatsoever and im tired of seeing it all the time and just going :huh

i think their just going for a wide audience like the free credit report people (who doesnt know those songs), if you play a loud song thats easy to remember, people will stop and listen to it no matter how much sense it actually makes..... (who doesnt know that 4+4 is 1x8 :p)

You guys are WAY over-thinking this. As a general rule, most people don't listen to all the lyrics, they just catch a little piece here and there.

The parts that's supposed to catch you is the phrase "If you skate..." because, duh, it's a commercial for DC. Then they use big arials and slow-motion to match the rythm of the song.

The rest of the lyrics are completely inconsequential. They don't even think you're listening to that part anyways.

I think its pretty cool.

You guys are all off the mark. That is a really clever advert, a figure eight is a bouble backflip (check the guys hand gesture in the intro and the double backflip of the first rider). A figure four is a single backflip and what they are saying is you'd be great if you could pull off a double flip (8). Props to DC for producing a uber clever advert.
