are you still in the heat cycle process or in the riding stages?

you have the "basic hone on the cylinder? typically an engine will run much warmer until its broken in regardless of the cc's due to the courseness of the hone. many gues including myself will do a micro-hone to the bore. doesnt get nearly as warm as as fast.

What's different about this build than the last one that didn't high hot?

i have just started the break in process. I started it up and was going to let it reach its runnig temp and then let it cool back off a couple of times but the temp never plained out it just kept rising, i let it rise up to 230 before i shut it down. called esr and told them and they said to ride it to get air going thru it, did that and temp got up to 230 so i parked and called esr, they had me check the impellar make sure it is working and it is, took the radiator cap off and made sure the coolant was circulating, it is. i am running c12 race fuel with castor 927 2 cycle oil 32:1 like esr says and i have not come up with anything. i was running engine ice coolant but esr said drain it and run 80 water to 20 coolant so i did that, did not change anything. i checked my spark plug and the jetting seams to be right on. what do you guys think? should i just go and hammer down and see what happens? esr says this motor should not get over 200, all the other threads i have read talk about running between 150 and a few cases runnning 200. yeah maybe if i am screaming wide open the temp may drop below 200 but i am not always going to be able to run wide open, what do i do then. any help would be greatly appreciated

if your staying in one place she will run hot when waiting in line to do the hillclimb at bike week my bike hit 225 my 330 and 350 ran about 175-200 in the pit up and down the hills me and jon 370 are now running fans on the 401 that is the cure-all for the big bores+ big radiator

1 more thing ease back on the oil to 50-1 fuel is cool, oil is just a lubricant

i already switched rad caps hoping that would be the problem. thanks for the input

I have an ESR 330r Stroker motor and i had the same issue. When I talked to ESR they said the normal operating temp should be around 205. They suggested a center mount pipe and a bigger radiator. Both have fixed the problem on mine.

My CT 350 will always run over 200 until I put a bigger rad and a center pipe. Now it never goes over 200 unless it is just idling over a longer period of time.

The ESR 310 Im currently bulding DOES hit the 200 mark at idle until I start moving but still hovers around 190. Needless to say, I am getting a bigger rad for it soon.

I have a pwr radiator & centermount pipe. After about 20 min of idling it reaches 230°, I bet if I dont shut it down it would probably hit 275° - 300°. If I ride it around and try to cool it off it does not cool off, it just keeps rising so I have to park it when it gets about 230°. I have no idea what to do next, like I said earlier in this thread I have done and checked every possible thing it could be. Maybe if i take it out and scream it up and down the road it might drop below 200° but this is a brand new engine not even broke in yet, I dont want to blow the motor. What do you guys think, just remove the temp guage and go riding or what?
