Hi guys just a simple question; what do you guys consider is beating your quad?
Mine is: WOT through every gear, throwing your quad in mud holes, and the usual stuff like donuts on pavement, burnouts and stuff.

When I grew up I learned to respect the vehicles I drove and owned. as simple as revving it too much than needed, taking sharp fast turns, WOT, going fast over bumps etc etc. I consider that beating on my truck. I also own a T-maxx and I try not to let the temp go up to much, or have it WOT to much because I know that it will shorten the life on those small engines.

I just like my stuff to last and not get beat on. Since this is my first quad and Im new to ATV stuff, I want to know what others consider beating is, that way I will know if Im to harsh on it

donuts basically kills ur tires and the same go for burnouts. its ok to take ur quad thru mud but as long as you wash it afterwards and not let it sit a long time.
i guess i would be considered a person who beats on his quad. i jump it , i race it, i go fasst :D but thats wat they're made for. jus do your regular maintenaince (oil changes, cleaning air filter, lubing chain, etc) and most quads will last a long time!

I ride likes its going to be my last every chance I get. Because of the fact you don't know about tomorrow whats going to happen to yourself. So, basically, I beat to poo out of everything I have. But hey I got money so it's ok :D.

revving it, dumping the clutch, smashing through bumps bottoming out the suspension, jumping it insane heights, dragging your feet over the plastics, not keeping up on maintenance, letting people ride your stuff that have no regard or respect for a nice bike...stuff of that nature.......

im cheap except for when it comes to my bike and stuff that matters..... i take high pride and care when i mod or change anything on my bike so alot of effort is spent and well noted for...

thats why my bike looks like this......
<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/5420/project440ex049sb8.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/><a href="http://g.imageshack.us/img262/project440ex049sb8.jpg/1/"><img src="http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/project440ex049sb8.jpg/1/w640.png" border="0"></a>

eventhough it still looked like this when i tore it down for a rebuild....

sounds good guys.

I was riding with my friends 08 yz250f yesterday and I had to really open up the throttle to stay up behind him. I kept thinking to myself it cant be that great of for the engine.

dont worry about that.......thats what its made for. I just stay away from anything with really high water and keep up on the maintanence and you should be good

they are ment to have fun on, go out and blow that sucker up. i dump my clutch, hit the limiter, do burnouts, jump it, mud it and when something breaks i fix it. i dont ride it when i break something.

Its a toy. If it breaks it can be fixed. I guess I beat on mine pretty good, but I tear it down and clean it every week or so. As long as your willing to keep up on the maintenence and fix what breaks, ride it any way you want to.

If you're just accelerating WOT like that, your fine.

Bouncing off the rev limiter would be considered beating it in your case..

There's one kind of BEATING on a quad that I didn't see mentioned--->organized, competitive racing. Racing is brutal on equipment. It's the good kind of BEATING though! :D

The only organized racing I've done is roadracing. But I'm sure it's the same on any racer. I loved my racebike but had to ride it without concern for its health. On a race track, in the heat of battle, if you want to win sometimes (many times!) you've got to treat your equipment as totally expendable.

What I found with roadracing and street riding is it's the uninterrupted intensity of racing that does it. On the street there are certainly times I'd put my machines under racing type stress. But only for a brief period compared to an actual race on a racetrack. On the track it was constant, ferocious use of the throttle and brakes over and over and over. Usually, it's just not possible to do that on the street unless you're doing something really notable (fearless riding on a perfect road, stunting, etc).

I ride recreationally pretty dang hard sometimes (lots of balls out dune riding these days). But I've never treated a "for fun" machine like I treated a genuine race bike.

beating a quad is defined as me riding it lol I beat my quad because thats what fun does. Racing or even just regular riding I am pounding whoops, hitting jumps, WOT mad man at times.

Racing may be beat on your quad. But i would take a race quad over a trail quad anyday. 99% of the people that race will maintain a quad. Alot of people that trail ride may change oil once a year and never clean the air filter.

They are built to ride and raced. If they weren't the factorys would not back the teams and promote racing.

Just stay on top of the maintenance and ride the wheels off of it.

Just my $0.02

for me beating on the quad is more or less not taking care of it. i ride mine hard and put it away wet, but i keep it maintained and i replace anything that breaks as soon as money allows. i would consider mine well taken care of.

i would consider mines a beater if i broke it and didnt care, never washed it, didnt maintain it etc...you get the point.

i do enjoy doughnuts, but i dont do them prolonged and i dont do burnouts cuz it overheats the engine to easily..and that i would also call beating on it.

I ride mostly trails and I change my oil along with everyone I know when it starts to turn color and it looks dirty. And I clean my air filter about every 2 - 3 rides.

5th gear pinned down the road will do a number if you dont keep up with oil changes. I know you should keep them in the dirt but hey.. sometimes you gotta get home.
