Vin #

I have an 86,87 frame with an plate going up the rear left side of frame. it has 11 digit numbers and letters on it would this be the vin # ? insurance company said it should be an 17 digit #. there is no other #'s on frame any were. thanks for any help. need to get this insured.

Yes that would be the vin number. Its just a plate that looks like its tacked welded right?

It should be 17 digits. You may have to strip some paint if it's been repainted or powerdercoated. They are usually very faint.

thats were we got the #. sanded all paint off all the paint to check them there is no more. what to do now? may have to look for a frame with a title
