so the other day my truck develops an exhaust leak. i figure where its comin from pull up a diagram of whats under there and voila its a one piece setup in this area. so i order one and it came in today, i crawl under and unattach the back half just after the cat before the tail pipe. I turn to work on the front and come across this

Ouch frame rail = toast. Matter of time before it fails.

that would be a 99 ford ranger my friend and i'm extremely surprised to see that kind of rust on it. but all is good as i will register the ole f-150 and strip off every good part from the ranger and sell em on ebay and scrap what i can't.

There shouldn't be that much rust on a 9 year old frame . I'd be making a few phone calls to the Ford dealership to see what they have to say about it.

I know Toyota came good on the frames of their early 90s trucks because of rusting frames. In fact the guy that lives across the street from me received $17 000 from Toyota to put towards a new vehicle because of rotting frame problems they had.

We had a 99 Ranger in the shop last week that had the same problem.The rear spring hangers were rusted completely off and you could put your hand right through the right rear frame rail.

depends on where in Florida you live.

Down in south Florida yea but north Florida isnt bad.

well i'm pretty surprised myself cuz that f-150 in the pictures an 89 and he doesn't even have close to the rust and rot that ranger has even though its spent much more time sittin around in the yard
