oil ratio ?

when pre mixing oil would 50:1 be more or less oil then say 40:1.for some reason i thought it was more but the new mixing bottle shows 50:1 one being less oil then 40:1 . i know its probly a stupid ? but i want to make sure im going the right way

50:1 is less oil.It is 50 parts gas and 1 part oil.

thanks, so if i am running 40:1 and it seems to be a bit smokey and making me run richer would going to 50:1 help me out

Actually here is where it gets a little confusing.If you go from 40:1 to 50:1 technically yes you would see less smoke and it would be a leaner oil ratio.However,when you go leaner on your oil mix ratio it richens up your actual carburation due to the fact that now you are putting more fuel and less oil through the carb.

40:1 is a pretty popular mix ratio.Pick the ratio you want to run then jet accordingly.

It would lean it up, just don't go to much or you will fry your piston and cylinder..Small increments at a time

yes makes sense. here is why im asking the ? and now what you are saying makes even more sense i think. when i took the injection off and went to pre mix the bikes seemed to have gotten richer (going by plug color). so if i went to 36:1 would that help lean my carb down a little.

I am not sure you will see much difference from 40:1 to 36:1.If you are currently mixing at 40:1 I would just jet the carb to get the good tan plug and if the quad runs good,ride it.
