I just bought an EBC dirt racer clutch kit and am plannig on doing the work myself. It comes with fiber plates, steel plates and the springs. WHat tips or pointers do you have for putting a clutch in. I also ordered new clutch spring bolts and a gasket for the clutch cover. Is there anything else I need to know. Thanks in advance for the help.

do yourself a favor if you dont have it yet and get yourself a clutch basket holder, or fab up a holder in order for the process to be easier.

this isn't needed to for what hes doing. make sure you loosen and tighten the five bolts evenly.. the rest will be easy... oh, and soak the fibers in a cheap, non synthetic oil for at least a couple of hours before installation.

they should just be snug, and you might want to use some cheap insurance... loctite! be careful not to overtighten the bolts. its very easy and they'll crack the inner hub in seconds.

I shouldn't have to take out the basket right? So do I need the pliers he is talking about or not?

no, the basket stays in for this. to tell you the truth, if you were changing the basket too, all you would need is an impact.. makes things a lot simpler. but again, you do not need any special tools for this. its very straightforward.

ok I'm pretty mechanically inclined but this is just another first for me. I've never put a clutch in myself. If nothing else this four wheeler has been a great learning expirience. Lol. Once I do something once I usually feel pretty confident.
