Depends on which one you get. An 06+ trx carb will plug right in, but it is too tall to clear your tank. Would need a 06+ tank also. For any other FCR you will need to repin the TPS plug to fit your harness.
For the airbox, your can buy an adapter and use your 04 airbox or change to an 06+ airbox and not need the adapter.

i was looking into getting an 06+ carb...there's no way around the tank issue huh??? i guess it's not a huge deal.. my graphics would look all messed up though.. small price to pay for the difference though huh...will i notice a big difference between the two carbs?? the people i talked to said it would be like night and day....

I don't know if you can get around the tank issue. I have an IMS and it cleared fine. I never tried it with the stock tank. I definately try it first to be sure before buying a new tank.
As far as a difference, I haven't had a chance to ride mine yet with the 06 carb. From what I have gathered, it won't really make more HP, but it will be more responsive.

any idea about the pricing?? did you buy a brand new stock carb or did you get something else.. i looked at the curtis sparks 41mm fcr and that was like $700... and duncan racing has a 40mm fcr but that's close to 700 too....i didn't want to spend quite that much.. i got a friend who works at a local honda dealership and he's gonna see how much he can get one.. he pays whatever their cost is...i think i saw a new stock one for like $535..something like that..

I bought a used one for $250. A lot of guys have been trying the yfz carb. It smaller, but it's cheaper and if you are going to have it bored, it will end up the same anyway.
I plan to have mine bored this month, these guys have a good price going right now.

I just picked up a stock crf carb for mine ....I'll need to get an adapter (I know someone makes them) - but , after talking to Kenny @ s&s ms. (he builds motors for alot of WORCS racers ) , and after looking at all the spendy a.market carbs , I called him - and the crf is the one he recomends - and I just picked one up for $300 ...............might look at them........
