I bought my son all new plastic for his 2000 LT80 but the gas tank won't match. Has anyone had any luck painting one? How and what is the best way to do it?
How about painting stock rims also?
If not, where is a source for buying a new tank just to get one that matches? Thanks

I've painted a cpl. gotta get the special paint and it looks OK. Sorry to say that the color will start to peel at some point too soon.
Prolly gotta get a new one at your Zuki dealer.

Rims are easy. A can-o-paint and a lil sanding.:)

Thanks, as always your the man. One last time on the oil pump thread that keeps coming around....can I just remove the pump and custom make a block off plate? Seems easier than cracking the side case and pulling off the plastic end.

Sure you can pull the pump.
I've condsidered the bottom drive to be lacking lube with the plastic thing still in. Altho,,It could last forever and prolly do no harm if it does fail.:)

What color tank do you need? They came in a few variations. $20-$40 on ebay. I found a purple one on here for my daughter's.

I painted my son's before we sold it. I sanded it really good, then I bought plastic ashesion primer that you can buy at auto parts store, then painted over that. It looked good for a while, but the gas made it start to bubble fairly soon.

I had my son's tank painted. Had my my brother-in-law who owns an autobody do it. It turned out great and i've had no problems with it. If your gonna do it, have someone that know what their doing. Theres more prep&finishing involved than you'd think.
