the reason is I just bought some property to build a house on and i have enuff room to build a nice track on but i really dont want to piss the people off that live near by i was thinking of possibly trading the r for a stock piped 450 but it just seems wrong and i dont think i could let the r go after i put all that work into it

The quietest silencer is the stock unit. I run the stock silencer with a paul turner 89 trx race head pipe, fits perfect and is much quieter than the turner silencer. The clubs I belong to are not big fans of loud machines so this was my only option.

The FMF Q is the most quiet as far as I know, except for maybe stock. The FMF Turbine Core 2 I'm running for the spark arrestor isn't bad either. I want to say it was around 96-97 db's with a freshly packed silencer last time I checked it.

I noticed it smoothed the "hit" out, I'm sure it isn't helping performance by any means. It runs better than I thought it would honestly. I just trail ride anyway so it isn't a huge deal.

Keep an eye out on ebay, you can find stock exhausts for cheap. Check out ebay item 120301486159

Why would you buy a heavy piece of crap stock silencer when you can buy an FMF Q?

I had a mint stock silencer laying around, that's why I'm using it. As ugly and heavy as it is it fit the bill perfect for me, it was free, quite and has a spark arrestor. If you're looking to buy one don't pay much for it, honestly wouldn't spend more than $20.

custom R,
The Q will get you under 94db, I have tested mine at 93db with fresh packing. I have the same pipe as you. The most important thing is to keep the packing fresh, replace it often. I ride at silver lake and they can be real pricks about silencers up there. If you want to be quiet, the stocker is the quietest but you will give up a little I had a friend with one on a fatty and he tested 87db ( I think the pipe made more noise than the exhaust).. Kudos for trying to be quiet!!:D

I've blown 103's and 107's with Sparks silencers. Put a Dave Moore carbon fiber silencer on and blew a 97 dB.
