I know there is a specific location here for the 700xx but amd curious as to what your take is on the quad. I saw one today for the first time and man does it look sweet. What are you guys thought on it? Have any of you guys rode one, if so tell me what you liked and didnt like about it? My wife was with me a told me to go ahead and get it, but I would like to have an opinion from the 400 guys as I dont want a bias opinion from the 700 section.

Thanks
Jeremy

IMHO, I would go with the outlaw 525.

I am usually the first one to say nay to polaris, but the outlaw's are hot.

Outlaw-
KTM engine is fast as hell
More tire options for rear, honda uses an awkward rim size.
A lot lighter
The pre-2009 outlaws look better than the 700xx imo.
The fox shocks are a nice addition.

To me, the 700xx is too heavy, ugly, and awkward for me.

You wanted my opinion, I gave it to you.

The outlaw is cool and all, but it has nearly no aftermarket support. I realize that the 700xx doesn't really either though. Test drive one and see if you like it.

Yeah, I second that. Test drive both and see what YOU like most. What we like doesn't necessarily mean you will like it.

I just happen to like the outlaw's a lot. Not the 500's, they're dogs, but the 525's are hot.

I personally think that the look of it is ugly. And honda needs to take it back and do some new mods on it before they put it back out. Dirtwheels has compared it to both the raptor700 and the outlaw 525 and both times it lost. To make it competitive in the 700 market it needs alot of work done.

Im not a fan of IRS, yes it is ugly and heavy, i agree the polaris 525 is awesome u cant go wrong with that KTM engine or the fox shocks, IMO its ugly too. I would go for the raptor 700. Plus the raptor has tons of aftermarket support.

Yeah, I love the 700 raptors. Sexiest machine out there.

But as far as irs, outlaw all the way.

Nope. I just like flickable quads. I hate when it's so heavy that it feel's like a beast in the air and uncontrollable. I guess it's because I came off a blaster I like light quads.

So wtf's your problem? Get some sand in your vag?

Less weight=more speed, everyone knows that, a few pounds here and there makes no difference, but when you start talkin numbers like 30 or more pounds more than the competitions atv, it makes a difference.

(i have no idea how much more the 700xx weighs over the raptor, i just made that up.)

I believe the raptor is like 50lbs heavier.

Meh, oh well. The 700xx looks like a friggin tank, so i assumed it was heavier. Either way, i would not like to have a 700, they are just too heavy, and like you said, i like a quad i can throw around with ease.

The Raptor is not heavier than the 700xx, where did you get that?? Honda lists their weights in curb style (ready to ride) and its 505lbs, the Raptor is 396 dry and the Outlaw 525 is 389 dry. I think you have your numbers backwards, the 700xx is 50+lbs heaver than the raptor when comparing dry weights. The fact that the Outlaw weighs less than the raptor is impressive since it has a more complex chassis with an extra shock.

As far as the 700xx is concerned, if you're looking for a performance IRS quad the outlaw is a much better choice IMO. Its lighter, better suspension and honestly is probably faster stock for stock than the 700xx. The 09 outlaws look great IMO, very sleek looking.

I plan on trying both of them out but I was just looking to see what your guys opinions were on the quad. It seems like an overwhelming opinion is to go with the Outlaw, which is suprising to me.

the 500s are far from being 'dogs' the 525s seem to overheat quite a bit more often too.

As far as I know (I may be wrong) the 500 is the same engine that's in the predator. Well, I wasn't impressed with the predator at all. So I couldn't imagine it in a heavier IRS quad.

Have you thought about a ds650. I just picked up a 2007 Can-Am DS650x for $5100 brand new from the dealer. A matter of fact he still has a 2006 ds650X there. I also own a 400ex that is the most relaible machine I ever owned. You cant go wrong with Honda. Just some input for you to consider. Good Luck with your choice.

I love the DS's. They ride like a cadilac, have a lot of power, and a stock tachometer.

So im still not clear does he want IRS or just big bore quad.

Either way the can am renegade 800 looks pretty sick. They cleared a HUGE jump with one of these in dirt wheels not that long ago. This quad is the best of both worlds, its still pretty sporty and it has 4x4, and its fast.

I also second the DS650, i have heard they are pretty reliable as well.

But all in all if i could pick any quad to own it would be the new raptor 700se, wow.

I still have just yet to grasp the "BLACK CRAZE" that's been going for a while now..... lord, especially not on a quad.

I can't at all think of a worse color for a quad. It may look OK on the showroom... but after one day of riding?... And painted wheels, nerfs, bumpers... that's the last thing I want. I can only imagine what mine would look like in a day.

To me, the best look for the Raptor was the white GYTR 700R.
Days like today I regret passing on that one.

hypersnyper6947, I really dont care about the IRS. I just happened to see the 700XX at the Honda shop and thought it looked really good. I am in the process of picking out a new, or used quad for my self and I thought I would see what you guys thought of the 700XX. I really like the looks and ground clearance of the IRS but it also will involve more maintainance over time and has alot more parts to break and replace. Just curious on your guy's thoughts.

In that case go for the raptor 700, yea i love the 09' raptor because its white with a black hood and red frame. Its amazing. You will not be disapointed, two of my friends have raptor 660's and i think there pretty awesome, the 700's are even better there lower and wider so they handle better and they have gobs of power.

For a Yeti like me - I've thought this might be just the perfect ride (of course it comes out a year after I bought my first sport quad). I do some fast trail riding, and just play a little on the motocross track - no big jumps or anything. I'm not wanting to win races or show off how high and far I can jump.

Basically, I think the 700xx was made for people like me. And I like the looks of the thing.

The '08 Raptor SE to me was the best looking black quad to date. But I liked the red & white one better... just didn't like the black stuff on it.

not tru. i believe the 700xx weighs 505lbs ready to ride, while the raptor only weighs something like 425lbs ready to ride.

i dont like IRS on a sport machine, and i dont like the the 700xx...it is ugly and heavy. it looks uncomfortable IMO, and i wouldnt be caught dead riding one. if it were solid axle with a 450R derived fender design, then i would be all over it.
