i am just wondering what the problems are that people have delt with that own and/or race a ltr 450. i have pretty much always raced hondas and they have been very reliable for me but i am looking to buy a 450 for next race season to move up and if the opportunity comes up with a good deal on an ltr i might take it but i have freinds that hav had no problems with them and others that have constant problems with them. just wanna get some outside facts about problems that you might have had. thanks for your time.

2006 Models- Vin Numbers *62100089 to *62111626 all have a frame recall on them, but most people took those back...

The shift pin has been a problem on all 3 years, but is fixed by a relocator piece you buy and install.

Tranny Whine is common, and can typically be cured by using certain kinds of oil.

Thats all I can think of.

Top ends are made of glass. There are threads everywhere about the pistons going bad and eating into the cylinder wall. Had it happen to me not too long ago.

My '06 was bullet proof didn't have one problem with it and I put a ton of time on it....The only reason I got a '08 was because I sold the '06 due to money issues (blew out my knee and missed work for like 3 months......). So far I'm loving my '08. I got about 15hrs on it and not a problem. I think the LTR is pretty darn solid!

It's all in how you maintain your machine. I don't think luck has anything to do with it. If you follow the maintenance schedule and do the common upkeep you shouldn't have many problems...

I have almost a full season of racing XC and some MX on the 08 LTR I have. So far it has been mostly solid.....the biggest issue I have had is the clutch. I have been through (3) clutches so far.......but that is partially due to the width and tight woods. I would recommend it! Note: I change the oil and filter after every race.
