I have a06 trx450er and I believe I over heated it because a intake valve busted off inside the combustion destroying my top end. my question is I read somwhere in this forum that if you ground the wire going to the thermostat housing the fan will come on, My does not but the light does. After I rebuilt the engine I did get the fan to come on but I'm afraid it will screw up again any suggestions

Do you think it could be the cdi box under the hood, I just put $1300 into the top end and I really don't want to do it again. The wife's a little pissed already.

It has to be running for the fan to be on, The key on alone will not turn on the fan, start it up and ground the fan then it should come on, mine is hooked up to run all the time when the engine is running.

Doesn't this take a little power away from the bike? Will the stator be able to make enough power to run the fan all the time and give enough energy for hotter spark energy and upgrades like that? And won't the fan burn up?

im not sure about the power >> it feels exactly the same to me.
i know it def has helped with the bikes staying cooler.
we race mx so its not long anyway.

my race bike just has bigger radiator and crf ignition so its got no fan:cool:

The Single Wire that comes out from the top of your Themostat, cut the piece off of it, put a Ring Turninal on it and GROUND that puppy to your Frame ... That will cause your Fan to always stay ON while the quad is running ... It will also cause your OVERHEAT light to stay on as well ... so pull that out while your at it ...

I set up the fan to be on at all times during the last two months and I don't have any complaints yet. I think I can count on my hands how many times the fan came on in the past.

I dont like that idea cause you lose your temp light, but what if you hot wired the fan to toggle switch and left the thermostat wire hooked up?

The switch idea has been done to, really it is just personal preference it works either way, the less i have to worry about in a race the better as i'm not going to want to concentrate on turning a switch on and off myself.
