I was looking to buy a 426ex, but I was wanting to know some of the pros and cons of a 4-wheeler thats bored out.

I've heard boring can make the engine blow up alot easier. How true is that?

Can boring cause any other problems?

And if theres anything else I need to know about bored engines please let me know.

3rd link was best. just wondering why not 416? that way you have more room to play with if something goes wrong. Again it depends on your parts and stuff. By any chance does anyone know the weight of the stock piston? or a stock bore replacement piston?

Hmmm... that kinda makes me want to stay away from the 426.

I believe i'll just try to find a stock EX or Z, I need a really reliable bike.

How reliable is an Ex for trail riding? Is it high maintence in anyway?

the 400ex's home is the trails. great quad, regular maintainance. keep a clean and oiled air filter, lubricate the chain and keep it in adjustment, change the oil and oil filter when dirty, grease pivot points, check the valves and adjust them every so often. all things that have to be done on any vehicle. They are really reliable and dont need much work to keep them running
